Centre for Science & Technology Innovators (CSTI) · Kenya

CSTI is a UNESCO-associated climate and environmental research institute focused on EcoChemistry solutions. They are known for creating a unique analysis lens driven by understanding local community and industry reactions to new technology. CSTI leads the low carbon/green construction materials research lead for the Kenya State Department of Public Works. Their focus is SCMs from organic waste residues that would normally be burnt. We are also coaching startups on CO2 mineralization, circular materials using bamboo, clay, mycelium, recycled plastics, paints, and coatings.

The Foundation for Environmental Management and Campaign Against Poverty (FEMAPO) is a Tanzanian non-governmental organization that advocates for the rights and inclusion of marginalized communities, environmental justice, human rights, child rights, and accountability in development processes. FEMAPO promotes transparency and civil society participation in projects financed by International Financial Institutions (IFIs), including the World Bank. It also works on climate justice and a just transition toward low-carbon and sustainable development. Its areas of focus include fossil fuel phase-out, decarbonization of the cement industry, and strengthening community and civil society participation in climate policy and decision-making.

GreenTree Global is a sustainability and energy-efficiency organisation supporting the transition towards low-carbon, resource-efficient built environments and infrastructure. Its work spans cement, concrete, steel and material decarbonization, green public procurement, embodied carbon assessment, sustainable material specifications, energy efficiency and environmental performance. GreenTree works with government institutions, public-sector organisations, infrastructure agencies, developers and industry stakeholders, providing technical expertise, policy and standards assessment, capacity building and implementation support to advance low-carbon construction materials and climate-responsive practices.

Instiglio, a non-profit focused on driving results through innovative financing with public actors, is pioneering the use of market shaping mechanisms, such as pull finance and Advance Market Commitments, to incentivise clean tech adoption. Cement decarbonisation is foremost among these clean tech topics where Instiglio has focused on countries including Nigeria, India, Kenya, Uganda, Indonesia and Brazil in partnership with the UK Government, CGD, the University of Chicago's Market Shaping Accelerator, the Outcomes Accelerator, and Schmidt Futures.

Pledge4Earth (P4E) is an India based sustainability and climate advisory organisation working across industrial decarbonisation, carbon markets, energy efficiency and sustainable buildings. Its cement-sector work spans decarbonisation pathways, carbon-market transition, MRV frameworks and low-carbon construction. P4E is also working on demand-side measures to accelerate low-carbon cement adoption through green procurement instruments, including Schedule of Rates reform, model tender clauses, embodied-carbon criteria, non-financial incentives and capacity building-bridging policy, industry and implementation to support the transition towards net zero.

World Resources Institute (WRI) is an independent research organization that works to improve people’s lives, protect nature, and stabilize the climate.
